SELF SYMBOLIZINGNESS AND SELF LUMINOUSNESS Or finding God under your own pillow. 03/04/07 Sunday 01:10am EST OK, so we take a conscious unit, and put it in a body in contact with its physical senses, and we put the body in a tank looking at a TV set connected to a video camera outside the tank looking at an American flag. The causal pathway of referents and symbols can be represented by the following diagram. Flag -> CCD -> TV screen -> Retina -> LookedAt/Looker up down up down up We choose these five spots along the pathway because at each point the symbol is in a focused high picture form format with high geometrical congruency to the original referent, the flag. The congruency flip flops upside down and right side up as it moves along the pathway, and we call this the congruency flip flop. It's important because the difference in orientation helps to prove the difference between objects along the way, lest anyone be foolish enough to collapse them all into one object. Now first thing to remember is that the terms referent and symbol are relative to each other, the referent is the earlier event in the causal pathway, and the symbol is the later event. ANY earlier event is a referent to ANY later event which is a symbol for it, as long as there is a causal pathway between them. But in particlar when we are trying to see the Flag, the Flag becomes the referent and the CCD becomes the next symbol of import, Notice that there is space and time distance between the Flag and the CCD, from the CCD we can't see the flag directly, and thus one can never have certainty about the Flag by looking at the CCD. At best one can only hope to find a causally connected representation on the CCD of the Flag, giving some possible evidence that the original Flag may exist. The reason of course that there is no certainty about the Flag is because one is not looking at the flag but looking at the CCD instead. How can one get cretainty of A by looking at B? Silly isn't it? OK, so the Flag is the referent and the CCD is the symbol, but the guy in the tank can't see the CCD screen either! So we take the next step in the causal pathway, and we say the CCD is the referent and the TV screen is the symbol. Notice again there is space and time distance between the CCD screen and the TV screen, from the TV screen one can't see the CCD, and thus there is no certainty of the CCD. Then we consider the TV screen the referent and the image on the retina as the symbol. Again there is space time distance between the TV screen and the image on the retina, from the retina one can not see the TV screen, and thus there is no certainty of the TV screen by looking at the retina. Then we consider the retina as the referent and the conscious looked at as the symbol. Again there is space time distance between the image on the retina and the image in the conscious display, from the conscious display one can not see the retina, and thus there is no certainty about the image on the retina by looking at the conscious looked at. But here the pattern changes, The conscious Looker CAN see the conscious looked at directly. It's ALL he can see at all of the entire chain. But by what symbol? Up to this point all 'seeing' of referents has been done via symbols. If we consider the conscious looked at to now be the referent, what symbol is there for the conscious looker to try to see the referent by? Well the point is, if there WERE another symbol after the conscious looked at, YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE CONSCIOUS LOOKED AT BY LOOKING AT THAT SYMBOL, AS YOU CAN NEVER SEE A REFERENT BY LOOKING AT A SYMBOL THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN THE REFERENT. Since the looker can see the conscious looked at, he can't be looking at a symbol for it, but must be looking at the referent directly. The referent, the conscious looked at, is acting as a symbol for itself. This is self symbolizingness. And that symbol, when considered another referent, is also acting as a symbol for itself. Ad infinitum. Self symbolizingness is life itself. This is the light of self consciousness in the night of the void. It lights nothing but itself, for what else is there to light? This is a very big deal. This is self luminousness, and is what gives consciousness resplendent self awareness. Resplendent comes from splendor, to shine. A machine can know no splendor. Consciousness can shine and KNOW that it shines. Being and knowing are one. The light of consciousness is the self luminousness of the conscious I AM, which is also the light of God, as God is a multi I AM being. Those two colors you are looking at out there, that's God light. Under whose pillow was this?
