American Heritage Dictionary, New College Edition:

       Religion:

1.) The expression of man's belief in and reverence for a
superhuman power recognized as the creator and governor of the universe.

2.) Any particular integrated (organized) system of this
expression.

3.) The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognizes the
existence of a superhuman power or powers.

4.) Any objective attended to or pursued with zeal or conscientious
devotion.

       5.) Sacred rites or practices.

Well Kat, seeing the generally accepted definitions of religion,
with special concentration on the first, would you like to qualify your
statement in retrospect?

Further you say that humans have evolved past religion, I trust you
mean organized religion, definition 2 above.

But then you say that we cling to it due to fear of change and the
unknown.

Has human kind evolved past fear of change and the unknown?

If so, why are we still afraid of change and the unknown?

If not, then how have we evolved past things we created to deal
with them?

Your posting seems to indicate that *YOU* personally no longer have
a fear of change or the unknown.

You want to attest to that?

       Thanks for your help,

       Homer
