Here is just one argument against conceal mode.

On ADORE-L there are and will be many discussions concerning
spiritual experiences some of which come from drugs. Since drugs
are illegal, it could be dangerous to reveal this information
without knowing who is signing on.

Now, first I must warn you, that ADORE-L is hooked into at least
one bulletin board wherein its postings are redistributed to a wider
audience that I have no control over. Thus there is always potential
for someone to read a posting that would be better left unread.

However, let's say someone signs onto ADORE-L who I or someone
else suspects or knows to be a Narc. Would you not all want to know
about it immediately? If they sign on in conceal mode, then I would
be restrained from telling you who it is. Let's say that I do not
know the guy, but ONE OF YOU knows the guy and knows he is a Narc.
There would be no way for you to find out and warn the rest of us.

Thus let us consider the following proposal.

Not only should CONCEAL not be allowed, but the signon
messages of everyone who signs on should be directly forwarded
to the list for all to see. This would not create too much extra
traffic because mostly people sign off. No wonder, eh?

There is only one further reason that CONCEAL might still
serve a purpose and that would be to prevent people NOT ON the list
from seeing that you WERE on the list. Of course I can just make
the review and logs private. The logs already are.

As for Bill's innuendo that I have not done my homework as
regards to the listserv mechanism, all I can say is that I have read
4 or 5 times all the documentation provided to me by our kind host
at UALTAVM. The lack in such is being directly taken up with the
postmaster there, and hopefully I will be able to improve on such

As for the other two concealed accounts, they are very recent
to the list and I am not sure why this spate of secret signon's should
be happening now.
