I do not like private mail. Usually the response that I make
to private questions are suitable for everyone. I write to teach
people what I think (they don't have to accept it) and I spend
a large amount to energy writing these responses.

To then not have everyone on the list see the response
is a waste of my life energy and is a rip off of them.

Its like my response becomes copyrighted by the originator
of the private mail because I am not allowed to post MY response
where ever I want.

I can leave out quoting their mail, but then my response
will be out of context.

All in all, private mail to me is a waste of time unless it
is not for other people.

For example people writing me detailed questions about some view
or another that demands I write a careful and well thought out response,
are especially unwelcome, as I want all my list members to benefit from
the exchange.

This kind of behavior is selfish on the part of the private email
originator because they want an answer from me but they don't
want anyone else to see the answer, because they are in their
morning curlers so to speak.

What I mean is they are shamed of THEIR private email, not polished
enough for a public list, yet they want an answer from me but don't
want others to see my answer because they don't want others to see
their question.
